Tip Tip Dig Dig is a great book to begin teaching young children about construction vehicles. My son started reading this around 18 months and by age 2 he knows all the different vehicles in this book and loves pointing them out if he sees one while we are driving. It is a short book about a huge mess and what can be done with it. Each vehicle (digger, mixer, crane, tipper, bulldozer, and roller) contribute to the project. By the end of the story the vehicles helped to build a wonderful playground.

I love the short, simple, repetitive, rhyming text of the story, which briefly explains the job of each vehicle. This is a great book to read aloud and after a few times children will be able to join in as well.

The catchy text is supplemented with beautiful pictures that appear to have takes quite some time to create. The simplicity of the text as well as the illustrations makes this a perfect book for young readers. Most of the pages are easy for children to understand what you are reading because only the vehicle is on that page. So with the bulldozer pushing all we see is the bulldozer. I also like that each construction vehicle is a different color, so this book could serve multiple purposes. Great text and illustrations help to create a beautiful story for infants and toddlers.

I highly recommend this book because of the great story and its simplicity to children 12 months or older. It will be loved for many years!
